The country’s southernmost ski area, Ski Apache is the premier location for skiing and snowboarding. At 11,500 feet with a vertical drop of 1,900 feet and 55 runs, expert, intermediate and beginning skiers are all sure to find their perfect ride at Ski Apache in Alto, New Mexico, right outside of Mescalero. Combined with its colossal snowmaking capability and an annual snowfall of more than 15 feet, Ski Apache’s 55 runs are well served and provide ample terrain for all riders. There’s even a sledding hill for the entire family to enjoy.

Ski Apache offers more adventure with the Apache Wind Rider ZipTour where thrill seekers can soar over the beautiful Sierra Blanca at speeds nearing 60 mph. This three-span zipline is the highest in the U.S. at 11,500 feet. When the snow melts, the fun continues with gondola rides, hiking and 5.5 miles of mountain bike trails.

Ski Apache hosts its annual Dummy Gelunde Jump and Torchlight Parade with fireworks on Dec. 28, 2016. In the Dummy Gelunde competitors send an unmanned dummy down the slopes and off a jump to be judged on creativity, height, distance and originality. Later that evening begins the Torchlight Parade, an opportunity to witness the beauty of skiers gliding down the mountain guided by torches and starlight and to end the night with a grand fireworks show.

Ski Apache is owned and operated by the Mescalero Apache Tribe, which also owns the acclaimed Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort & Casino, located 45 minutes from the slopes.
